Alexander R. Aurora, M.D. Dr. Aurora, is a general surgeon with expertise in bariatric surgery and
advanced laparoscopic procedures. He joins the Upper Chesapeake Surgical
Associates practice and is a vital addition to the Upper Chesapeake
Bariatric Surgery team. Dr. Aurora completed his undergraduate education in
physiology at the University of Ottawa in Canada. He received his medical
degree from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland in 2000. Dr. Aurora
completed his general surgery training at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Sinai
Hospital in Baltimore. In 2011, he completed a fellowship in advanced
minimally invasive surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of
Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio.
Sung Kim, M.D. Dr. Sung (Sonny) Kim joined the Upper Chesapeake
Surgical Associates practice based in Havre de Grace,
Maryland in 2007. He earned his undergraduate degree
from the University of California at Irvine and his
medical degree at Howard University in Washington,
D.C. Board certified in general surgery, he served
as chief resident at Howard University Hospital in
Dr. Kim completed a two-year fellowship in advanced minimally invasive surgery. He has proctored other surgeons on cutting edge, laparoscopic techniques. Most recently, Dr. Kim completed a proctorship in bariatric surgery with Dr. Terrence M. Fullum, the Medical Director of the Upper Chesapeake Bariatric Surgery program. Dr. Kim will be performing laparoscopic gastric bypass and laparoscopic gastric banding procedures in addition to his other areas of expertise including hernia, bowel, gallbladder and appendix. Dr. Kim is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Eleisha Flanagan, M.D. Dr. Eleisha Flanagan received her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine. She completed her residency in general surgery from Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. and both her research and minimally invasive clinical fellowship at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
in addition to her clinical duties, Dr. Flanagan also recently served as a surgical skills instructor at the UNC School of Medicine. She is a member of a multitude of committees and organizations including the American College of Surgery, American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Women in Surgery, and more.
